My wife's 2000 Jetta 2.0 had the check engine light come on. Code check at the dealer came up with P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance. They said that they needed to replace the sensor. Part: $72...total with labor: $922!!! I think that is insane.

I have read a few of the posts and the sensor seems to be deep in the engine. I'm not too familiar with auto repair, but I have good friends that are. Has anyone replaced this sensor on their own, or know where I can find do-it-yourself info on replacing this sensor?

you have to remove the timing belt and cam gear. Its bolted to the cyl head behind the gear. shouldnt be more than 5hrs labor.. u do the labor/hr rate calculation!
