83-280z turbo 5 speedscott37 11-14-2005, 08:01 PM My brother has this car and one day he started screwing with the air flow meter. Prior to that he had it in a shop getting some elect. work done. Nothing major. So his mechanic told him whatever you do dont mess with that flow meter. Well he did any way and now when he steps on it the car looses power. It is giving him problems now even trying to keep it idled now. We have gotton it to TDC I dont know how many times now. He thinks the flow meter is fine now but I think that is still the root of his problems. Any advise? FORGOT TO MENTION HE THINKS IT IS ALL ABOUT THE TIMING BUT IF WE HAVE GONE OVER THAT time and again it should be ok right? Define 'mess with' It is giving him problems now even trying to keep it idled now. We have gotton it to TDC I dont know how many times now. You've gotten it to Top Dead Centre? I don't quite understand what you mean. He thinks the flow meter is fine now but I think that is still the root of his problems. Any advise? Yeah, check the ECU codes and that will almost-definitively tell you if anything is playing up. FORGOT TO MENTION HE THINKS IT IS ALL ABOUT THE TIMING BUT IF WE HAVE GONE OVER THAT time and again it should be ok right? Whoa slow down caps jockey, you have a backspace key for a reason. What timing does he think its 'all about'? ignition? valve? I'll hazard a guess and assume you're talking about valve timing. Your brother's problem could be a result of a myriad of problems, valve timing being only one of them. In short, we need more information, preferably in a format that conforms to standard grammatical rules so that we don't have to spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what the hell you're on about. :D -Mike scott37 11-15-2005, 11:53 AM Define 'mess with' You've gotten it to Top Dead Centre? Everytime he gets it to where it needs to be he then starts messing around with the air flow meter. What I mean is I think he lost a screw that stops it from unwinding or something like that so what he has done is to stick a penny in it to keep it from unwinding. I will try to learn exatly what he has done and let you know. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
