I am planning on purchasing a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT. I wanted the manual but the only one on the lot is an Auto and too good of a deal to pass up. I just want to know what other people whom own this car are thinking. I'm not really a fan of the 132 HP but I'd be willing to just throw and intake(and stuff) on there to get it up to atleast 145.

Can the thing get out of it's own way?

Is it comfortable after driving it for a while?

Has your neon been reliable?

Is the sound system as good as they are saying?

Anything else I should know?

it is comfortable to drive, our neon has been very reliable of course you have your occassional moments when you forget to do somethings. The sound system is great depending on the one it comes with, mine came with the priemer sound system so it sounds awsome.

Getting the 2005 neon up to 145HP won't be easy. It isn't rice math. Besides the 2005 has the NGC (next generation computer) that makes it difficult to mod. It does have decent power, and has decent pickup...it is comfortable...it canbe reliable as any other car on the market if you maintain it...the sound system is very nice and one of the best stock systems on the market. Another thing to keep in mind is this is the last year of the neon. There will be no more after the 2005!

After driving the Neon...I have elected not to get it. While the ride was good, the looks, especially the interior and those bug eyes just pushed me away. I am now considering a 3rd gen Eclipse. Thank you all for your help.

Thank you all for your help. Are you wanting a brand new car? I would suggest buying a 1 or 2 year old car. I bought my neon new back in 99, and I wish I would have waited a year and bought a used one. A cars value diminishes greatly, so I would suggest purchasing a used one with the factory warranty still good. I won't buy a new car again..not worth it, in my opinion.
