okay so, after a lot of thinking about doing an SR20 swap, i figured if im going to be going big, i might as well just go for the RB25.

some concerns i have though are about finding replacement parts for anything if they something happens to break.

also, how much more complicated is the the install process, what special parts / fabrication is needed to get the engine in , and reliable.

and lastly, anyone have any good places to buy from? thanks in advance

Do the SR swap.

do tell, aside from the mounts which ill be getting from mckinney motor sports , as well as the drive shaft. there doesnt seem to be to many issues for the install, as apparently with the mounts, the downpipe will clear the steering rack and sit properly in the engine compartment

there is no real tough things about the swap...if you go with a mckinney kit, besides the wiring, everything will pretty much flow in smoothly

Ive already changed my mind about the skyline swap, if anything breaks on it im pretty much screwedfor a while, ive heard of people waiting like 8 months for Cams or just stock replacement parts

i dunno bout all that. i kno for the SR20, u can get replacment oem parts real easy. but it is also a more common swap. i am also concidering the rb25 swap

The only reason to ever get an RB25 is because you want the inline 6 sound and want to tell your friends you have a Skyline engine.

You can choose to understand this or you can argue with me.

If you want a v6, compare the price of a 300zx to a 240. If it'll be cheaper for the RB, go for it but that's another illegal motor in the states right?

Skylines aren't TEHBESTOMFG, but they have they're good points, but I can't really see a practical reason to have the RB. Skylines are known for their 4WD system and while I'd rather own a gts-t rather than a silvia, it wouldn't be soley for the engine.

RB engines are straight six.

and of course rb25's are naturally going to be slightly torquer...duh...also will allittle persuasion, would be more reliable than a high hp SR...(when doing hp comparsions.) dont get me wrong i love my SR though...

It will not produce more torque than a KA-T. The RB is at a mechanical disadvantage with a short stroke and relatively lower cylinder pressures.

In fact, it barely makes more torque than your average SR in stock configuration because of this. The only reason it does is because of the larger displacement.

thats why i said it will have slightly more torque is due to it being a 6cyl, and it having a larger displacemnt...and yes a kat probably will have around the same torque, but he didnt say he wanted a kat, he said SR or RB...just giving the info between the two...

Um, the fact that it's a 6-cylinder with only 25% more displacement makes it less likely to produce torque.

Rod length, stroke, and more importantly cylinder pressure are what primarily dictate how much flywheel torque is produced.
