I just went out and bought a 1988 Dodge D50 pick up 2WD. it's A/T with OD. 60k miles.

Used to be a "city truck" for the city of Cupertino, Ca. Has flashing yellow roof light and all!

anyway, I have questions about the carburation. The truck does just fine around town, but man does it lag on acceleration. especially on the freeway.

The previous owner mentioned the fact that it was running way too rich at WOT, so he has by-passed the primary accelerator pump, and T-d in a vaccuum line to improve vaccuum flow, and runs off the secondary accelerator pump.

My question is, these carbs...are there any known problems with them? Do the 1990 models with F/I bolt right up?

I'd love to get this little truck running a little more stout since I bought it primarily for commuting on the freeway.

The new tranny is fine, as well as all other aspects...just lacks any "poop" from say 35-65 mph and above.

Thanks for any/all insight.

here's my little ram..."50 cent" is it's nickname...seems fitting.
