bad starter or alt ?scott37 11-13-2005, 08:14 PM thanks for the advise about topping off the fluids. Ever since I degreased it I have not seen any more fresh spots on my driveway. Asfar as when I rinsed off the degreaser I said I let it dry at the car wash for an hour before I could drive away. Now just today a couple of times when I get ready to take off somewhere my starter has made that kind of grinding noise before it will start. Was wandering if I should give it a couple of days to see if it gets better or it is too late and my starter is already screwed. k3smostwanted 11-13-2005, 08:21 PM thanks for the advise about topping off the fluids. Was wandering if I should give it a couple of days to see if it gets better or it is too late and my starter is already screwed. my starter did that every once in a while. it never failed on my but it did make that sound. probably just the gears grinding down. it will eventully fail i would imagine. DeleriousZ 11-13-2005, 08:49 PM yeah my starter has done that on both my cars once or twice... just let it sit for a few seconds then try again... if it does it again, find something solid and heavy and give the starter a good whack (not kidding) and try again... if it STill doesn't work try hitting it a few more times, then if it's still not starting, your starter's screwed and you need a new one... and please don't take it to a shop to install it... it's held on by 2 bolts and one wiring connection.. it should take like 5 minutes to replace once the car is in the air... good way to start doing your own work on the car if you haven't before scott37 11-13-2005, 11:17 PM yeah my starter has done that on both my cars once or twice... just let it sit for a few seconds then try again... if it does it again, find something solid and heavy and give the starter a good whack (not kidding) and try again... if it STill doesn't work try hitting it a few more times, then if it's still not starting, your starter's screwed and you need a new one... and please don't take it to a shop to install it... it's held on by 2 bolts and one wiring connection.. it should take like 5 minutes to replace once the car is in the air... good way to start doing your own work on the car if you haven't before Thanx I have taken it out a couple of more times tonight and had no problems. One more question I had one of those cherry bombs on the end of the exhaust and it was louder than hell. A couple of days ago on my way to work I had cars flashing me so I pulled over only to find out that the cherry bomb was barely hanging on by a thread. I twisted it a little and broke it off the rest of the way. Any its even louder now you can imagine but I wanted to know if there is a type of muffler I can put on that is not too loud that would be combatible with the car? If so what is the price range? DeleriousZ 11-14-2005, 12:05 AM any muffler will work as long as it has the same inlet diameter... if it's the non-turbo model i think the size is 2.25" and the turbo is 2.5"... the rest is up to you price and quality wise... try ebay for a generic one... can get one for like $20, but it'll probably be pretty loud vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
