hey guys... i'm gonna buy a EG hatch soon... and i want my hatch to spank Srt-4's of couse i'm gonna boost it unless there's a kick ass motor i don't know about that well spank a srt-4? my question is... what setup should i go with? b16? b18? b20? what turbo would you put on these motors to kill a SRT-4? i'm prolly gonna put 10g's into the hatch when on done..so0o if you guys got any sugestion for me that would be great..i also heard that a B18a is begging for boost... should i just boost it and keep it with stock guts? well that combo spank a SRT-4? Thanks

stock B18C1 w/ a GT3076R turbo on a Spoolin Performance Quick 4 mani tuned on Chrome....that's what i'm looking at and that'll definately beat an SRT or Evo or whatever you want to race. That set up should put you at around 350whp or so on a good tune....could be more but it'd be a little riskier than i'd like....

10gs into a hatch and if you cant beat a SRT-4 you should be ashamed...but if you do want that 350whp your going to have major traction problems...

4k for the turbo, 2 for the engine, 2 for the car, and 2 for random things and you have an SRT serial killer on your hands.....

LS, i/e/50 shot...bye bye srt...mostly stock ofcourse but i still pulled em.

anyway if you are really serious about this and have the funds and knowledge i would suggest going k20 you would not need boost at all even for some decently modified srt's

the SRT4 has a better base to start from than any civic,RSX, or teg you will find.

they have a better base because they have a bigger engine to start w/ and its already built for boost....that's not to say that Hondas can't be fast, it just takes more work....

you could build a ls vtec with a 12:1 compression, sleeve and bore 86.5mm. get aggressive cams and the right tranny and you should be faster than the srt (if its stock).

Not really. If I'm going to get into a 3000 pound platform it god damn well better be AWD or RWD.

They've been out for 3 years with that superior platform and have yet to break out of the 11's. In the same time frame that they've been out, the fastest street hondas have gone from 10.00's to 9.50's for some cars in T4, street based cars on a street sized slick. Yeah, those SRT's busting out bottom 11's that can't break out past 130 MPH are just a wicked killer platform. You could stuff a stock sleeved GSR with pistons/rods into a lighter EG hatch, and with some good driving and a well thought out setup could run faster on drag radials and pump gas than any SRT in the world.

SRT-4s are fast but i just realized like turboEKhatch said...never seen one break 11s...i think i saw one posted online that was hittin 10s but maybe that was bs

i guess its not that srt-4s cant run 10s because they can but its more that theres not too many 10 sec ones out there

it takes alot to break into 10s. this thread makes it sound like candy.

oo yea i understand that but i guess there arent as many srt-4s out there as modded civics so youll see civics run it more than a srt

Not a single SRT-4 has broken into the 10's yet, period. There have been some lighter 2 door neons, but no SRT's. Check out SRTforums, they still have "the chase for 10's", and you can bet your ass that if any shop had gone 10's in one they would be touting that one in lots of ads.

I wasn't comparing the number of Civic's to SRT's, but in the same time frame as SRT's went from high 12's with some mopar stage 3 pretty much factory built cars to low 11's, the FWD record by a Honda has been taken down 6 tenths of a second, and going from 10.0's to 9.4's takes a lot more work than 12's to 11's. I don't want to say they've hit a brick wall, but IMHO a Honda is a better platform.

somewhere in the world i would say there is a 10 sec SRT its just that none of us has seen it yet

If anyone had run into the 10's in an SRT-4 before we would have heard about it, end of discussion. I have a friend in Alaska that heard about when Hunt broke into the 9's in his CRX for the first time about a month after it happened, word spreads pretty quick when you hit a milestone like that. There are enough people with video cameras at dragstrips today that there would probably be video and it would probably be posted if it had been done. When there are full on shop cars trying HARD to break into the 10's so they can tout that their shop was the first to do it, I really don't believe that Joe Shmoe X off the street has done it first.

ok you have a point there...keep us updated if anyone does ever break it

the problem lies in torque. you guys have an advantage there because of your low bore:stroke ratio. you spin and spin and spin! the srt redlines at 6k. this means that when you make 500+hp that low, you are bound to spin tires all day long.

Haha, funny, I saw that video and was thinking about how I was reading this thread, someone beat me to posting it though. At the end of the day, it's still an ugly neon though.
