ok so i bought a car, 1994 honda accord, knowing that the speedometer did not work all the time. It comes on from time to time, and then stops, with no certain pattern of working. I have found no common timesw that it works, it just does when it does. So heres my question, i heard or read somewhere that if the speedometer isnt marking how fast your going, but if you have cruise control and the cruise control works, that your speedometer is bad, not your speed sensor. I want to know which one it is, so if anyone can help that would be great, cuz i dont want to spend 350 getting it fixed, when i can fix it myself for half that.

What you were told is correct. The speed sensor affects both the speedo and the cruise. If the cruise works, it isn't the speed sensor.

But the speedo might not be bad. Could be a wiring problem (ugh!)
