2000 neon squicky noise, "NEED HELP".neon_323 11-11-2005, 04:30 AM I have a 2000 neon, & about 2-3 weeks it was sitting their in my drive-way, for the fact that I needed to change the rotors, & brake pads. Well, ever now, & then I would start the car, for keeping it normal on voltage, for the fact that it has sound system. The after a few days, a squicky noise started to occur, I have heard it before but always goes away. This noise is on the P/S, A/C, & Alternator side, dont know if its the belt that need to change, dont sound like it, I sprayed some STP belt spray, it goes away, when being spray, but, then comes back even louder. Well in advance, Thanks. das2123 11-14-2005, 04:51 PM You probably need to tighten the belt...never spray anything on your belts. It doesn't solve the problem and may cause your belt to slip more. neon_323 11-14-2005, 08:02 PM I change the belts, & the noise was still their. It seems to be coming from the accesorie's pulley (UDP), the noise seems to come only when, I rev it, or take of. das2123 11-15-2005, 08:29 AM I change the belts, & the noise was still their. Does this happen all the time or only when you have the A/C running? neon_323 11-15-2005, 10:38 AM NO, its just the accesories pulley (stock) I have one, but, have not installed it, I found out last night that it was also the power steering pilly aswell, as for the other one it stop, when I tourque it, as for the power steering, it dont stop, they have told me its maybe the bearing inside the pulley. das2123 11-15-2005, 11:27 AM NO, its just the accesories pulley (stock) I have one, but, have not installed it, I found out last night that it was also the power steering pilly aswell, as for the other one it stop, when I tourque it, as for the power steering, it dont stop, they have told me its maybe the bearing inside the pulley.Ok, so it's not a UDP. It could be the bearings, but unlikely. Make sure you get the belts real tight. If not, you will get the squeal/squeak from the car. neon_323 11-15-2005, 11:33 AM Alright, lets see what happens after I put the belts up tight, I also heard for them not to bee too tight, becasue they can rip. I will try a little more dough. neon_323 11-15-2005, 02:02 PM No, the noise is coming from the crankshaft pulley, any ideas why, its already tight as it is, unless its from the inside of the timing belt cover. neon_323 11-16-2005, 03:53 PM Das2123, I have notice that power steering pully is crack, all the way from the edge to the middle, where the bearing is. I think that might be it. das2123 11-16-2005, 04:09 PM Das2123, I have notice that power steering pully is crack, all the way from the edge to the middle, where the bearing is. I think that might be it.If it's cracked, then water/dirt/grime can be in there wearing out your bearings. Replace the pulley ASAP or remove the P/S system<---More HP that way! neon_323 11-16-2005, 04:12 PM I had a friend tell me that, but, it was being removed the a/c, freeing up more HP. das2123 11-16-2005, 04:14 PM I had a friend tell me that, but, it was being removed the a/c, freeing up more HP.Both free up HP! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
