I am having prob with my rodeo, I turn the key and it clicks, everything turns on except the engine, I turn the key back and then back to start it and it kicks over like noting is wrong. i have an after market alarm its code alarm, but it just started doing it and i have had the alrm for almost a year. I can not find the problem please help

The solonoid contacts inside the starter have worn down unevenly. Sometimes they connect, sometimes they don't. Replace the starter.

I have a '01 Rodeo with Auto Tranny and it has a similar starting problem. When I turn the ignition to on, it would click once and will not start. If I leave the ignition key to on and shift from park to any other positions (reverse,drive, etc) and back to park, then it would start. I have to shift before the car can start. Does anyone have a similiar problem?
