Duratec Coolant HosesMikeD2 11-10-2005, 08:40 PM I have a 96 which I bought new, it has 87,000 miles on it. I've done just about all the maintenance on it myself but, I haven't replaced any hoses on it yet. The anti-freeze has been changed every 3 years. All of the hoses seem soft and pliable although some you can hardly reach. Anyone else have any 10 year old hoses out there? 65comet 11-11-2005, 07:10 PM I have a 98' and I have only changed the lower radiator hose because my son pulled too close over one of those parking lot curb stoppers and pinched a hole in it. It of course is one of those hoses that has three outlets molded into it. The dealer wanted $65 but after some searching found one at a auto parts store for $35. There is a steel tube down in with those hoses that is rusting pretty bad from the outside that I think I'll replace in a couple of weeks. Other than that, haven't touched the hoses. I've got a '97, bought new, 125k miles right now, and I've never replaced any hoses. They all look good, and I'm not squeezing them because I think that's how they break. If they fail, I'll probably see a bubble or other obvious visual sign. The only leak I've had was with the stupid plastic recovery tank which is pressurized and eventually cracks in all Tauruses... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
