4x4 milelageJames Weber 11-10-2005, 04:42 PM I just bought a 1985 4x4 customdeluxs truck gas milelage not so good. what do somebody think about fuel injection vs staying with carberator? :disappoin dogbreath077 11-16-2005, 12:33 AM wht state do you live in? The emissions laws prohibit such a fix,BUT, if your state allows it, you better know what you are doing. The ignition system on that truck has 3 variations, two that tie into the engine management system,(PCM) and the Carb is computer controlled. Deleting the carb may very well throw off your timing setting and the advance curve. Make sure you check it out. Oh, and your mileage may not improve all that much depending on the gearing of the vehicle, and tire size, and wheter or not you have any mechanical problems that are dragging the vehicle down. Check your brakes and bearings and running gear before you do the FI swap. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
