I just got busted for reckless drivingflatlander757 11-07-2005, 02:42 PM Shit, the other night I got busted for doing 82 in a 55. I go to court on the 21st of November. I was courteous and respectful to the cop. The car was not towed so that is good. I really need to get this charge taken from reckless driving down to just speeding(19 or less over as opposed to the 27 I was going) or else I'll have a slim chance of ever landing a job as an automotive technician. I screwed up. balls_to_the_wall 11-07-2005, 02:54 PM Dude....That sucks. Good luck with court! Genopsyde 11-07-2005, 03:04 PM other than this infraction, how is your driving record? flatlander757 11-07-2005, 03:05 PM Otherwise perfect. Genopsyde 11-07-2005, 03:09 PM you might get lucky then, just give an honest plea and hope for the best. flatlander757 11-07-2005, 03:24 PM Yeah, everyone has told me to get a lawyer, but I just can't afford it. :frown: philly rs 11-07-2005, 03:34 PM i cant count how many tickets i got for 25-30 mph over...and my driving record is still good lol, hell my insurance even went down 40 bucks...wtf Genopsyde 11-07-2005, 05:14 PM Yeah, everyone has told me to get a lawyer, but I just can't afford it. :frown: no point in a lawyer, you have no arguement, just admit that you did wrong and hope you don't get the max. 666_speed 11-07-2005, 08:12 PM in KY you can ask for traffic school once a year or 2 years i cant remember off hand which is still a good bit of money but will take up to 6 points off of your license and wont go on your insurance....might want to check into that Xenostalgia 11-08-2005, 03:13 PM Were you on city streets or freeway? Racing or just hauling ass? Link85x 11-08-2005, 03:29 PM Flatlander757, i gotta go the 15th for the same thing... 52 in a 30. Wish ya luck man!!! Damn cops... flatlander757 11-08-2005, 09:29 PM Speeding. I don't blame the cops, they were doing their jobs. It was my fault for not taking it to a track(even though the closest is like an hour away). I'll have to suck it up and look for another career route. I do not want to go to college. An automotive technician job would have been perfect for me. cooltc2004 11-08-2005, 10:22 PM There have been many instances where the courts were oging to take away someones licence, but didn't because they couldnt work otherwise, so just tell them what you told us, and Ill bet a quarter that youll end but with just speeding. 666_speed 11-08-2005, 10:34 PM Speeding. EVERY TIME that I have had a lawyer he has gone to the prosecutor, gotten all buddy-buddy, and gotten the charges lowered or dropped. If/when you go without one the prosecutor, unless you know EXACTLY what the law is and present yourself as extremely knowledgeable, presentable, courteus, respectful, and professional, AND you have the best luck in the world, the prosocuter will dick you over and turn a little more profit for the state or municipality. Think of it this way: pay money now for a lawyer, or pay money later in fees, fines, insurance hikes, and risk your desired profession. I personally would choose the lawyer. wrightz28 11-09-2005, 01:56 PM Always is hope for the 'no cop, no foul' clause. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
