Tranny on 98 regalnewyorka 11-07-2005, 10:38 AM Hi i own a 1998 Regal GS and last week at 135k miles it died, I was a bit rash and had my mechanic right away put a junkyard one in. The car now kicks and I was wondering if anyone here can answer a few questions. 1. Does anyone know what the number of the regal supercharged transmission is so I know if they put the right one in. 2. What kind of Transmission oil goes into it. 3. And I'm really reaching here but does anyone know a really good shop where they specialize in rebuilding trannys, preffereably GM specialists. Thx for any assistance Felix BNaylor 11-07-2005, 11:15 AM Your Regal GS has the GM 4T65E-HD autotransaxle. The HD is the heavy duty version over the standard 4T65E. It uses Dextron-III ATF fluid. Any tranny shop can work on the 4T65E. The key is finding one that's reputable, reasonable and does quality work backed by a warranty. Since you have a junkyard tranny you might consider just doing a pan drop and replace the ATF and screen filter as a starter. It should hold about 7.5 quarts after a pan drop. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/regalgs.jpg newyorka 11-07-2005, 03:58 PM Thx a lot for the advice vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
