1987 chevy s-10 tahoe?

Evening ladies and Gents.
I saw a 1987 chevy s-10 tahoe last night, for sale.
i think it was a 5 speed, and on the winsheild i saw 4x4....
I belive it was a 2.8 liter........ but im not positive...
Were there any major problems on these s-10's?
The body's in rough condition, but it would be for the winter.
I have not seen it run nor drive, so thats why i ask. lol.

Not really, the bottom end of the 2.8L had it's problems with poor journals and bearings. But they redesigned the motor a little in 86 almost eliminating the problems.

Get a mechanical inspection done on it first, but you should have that done with any used car.

The other main thing is keep the front nd greased in it or the parts wear out fast

They're pretty good trucks for the most part.

Thanks. Im actually going to look at it later this week, and hopefully the mechanic (my father) will tell me it seems to be fine. I have asked around and the only problem people tell me about, is if they were beatin to the ground they might burn about a 1/2 qt every 1.5/2k miles (thats a given), and that some of them had problems with the intake manifold gaskets.

I've never heard of the intake manifold gasket leak, but they aren't too hard to replace.

Just don't replace them unless you have too
