92 regal(3.8) stalling/missing problemsSupra90T 11-04-2005, 10:51 AM Ok this is my parents car...They want to take it to a shop but the car's not throwing any codes so I know the mechanic will just charge them for trial & error Here's the problems: When you start it up cold...It will idle at 1200 then every 15 seconds or so, it will have a HARD miss and drop to 600 It does this until it warms up. If you drive it before it's warmed up, it will sometimes stall when you're coasting or coming up to a light Possible related problem...Once the motor's warmed up, when you get on the throttle the car bogs badly before responding I put the wires & plugs in about 5k ago and there were no problems until very recently after they brought the car back from a trip to the US I've heard things from ecu, coils, maf sensor, o2 sensor(unplugged it and it's not the problem) etc etc. Any suggestions would be awesome guys....thanks! Mark maxwedge 11-04-2005, 11:22 AM Somebody has to check this when it happens, they look at spark to all the plugs, look at possible inop injector and so one, this requires on site diagnosos. kok328 11-04-2005, 06:21 PM "the car's not throwing any codes so I know the mechanic will just charge them for trial & error" Not necessarily. They should hook up to a diagnostics system that will be able to tell what's wrong. rrichard7 11-04-2005, 07:25 PM My '94 Regal Custom had this problem. I had a broken plug wire. Yours are new but you may want to check them. Mine was the cylinder nearest the power steering. When I stretched it to match lengths, the spark plug cap came off. Well, I'll admit I'm not too familiar with these cars...I know on the supra you just jump 2 terminals to pull engine codes, it's very simple...I gather that it's different on the buicks though I'll give a check on the plug wires to rule them out, maybe it's that simple The car only has 120k on it so I wouldn't expect it to be anything too major Thanks for the replies! smantas 12-15-2005, 08:32 PM Well, I'll admit I'm not too familiar with these cars...I know on the supra you just jump 2 terminals to pull engine codes, it's very simple...I gather that it's different on the buicks though I'll give a check on the plug wires to rule them out, maybe it's that simple The car only has 120k on it so I wouldn't expect it to be anything too major Thanks for the replies! these cars are well known for the crank sensors.....my 92 did the same thing vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
