Greetings all,

I would like to know what the (correct & safe) steps would be to change the alternator on my '98 Altima GXE. Just picked up a new alternator today and would like do the change asap. I kinda have a rough idea as to how to do it, but I thought I'd first ask people on this forum who have more experience on this subject to avoid any problems (or disasters lol). Any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the battery before you begin removing the alternator. Inspect the belt and make sure the belt grooves are aligned in each pulley before adjusting the belt. If you are replacing a belt you will have to raise the vehicle to adjust the A/C belt behind a plastic shield in the passenger side wheel well. Clean both battery terminals and cables and wash the top of the battery.
