Backwards muffler by meinekehunter01 11-02-2005, 08:17 PM While inspecting my new Vortex V Baffle muffler # 88213 that was installed by my local Meineke shop I noticed that stamped on the muffler is an arrow pointing to one end and the word Inlet. This is connected to the tail pipe. It appears to me that the muffler was put in backwards. Is this cause for concern? Does it need to be corrected? Gabe25 11-02-2005, 09:14 PM Yes, The air flow of the muffler is to flow with the right amount of restriction in one direction. The other way could be to little or to much. Take it back and have them correct it. Rmbodie 11-03-2005, 05:54 AM I second that . Don't let them charge you either . muzzy1maniac 11-03-2005, 07:44 AM Charge him????? Brian_D 11-03-2005, 12:09 PM DITTO to above. plus a free George Foreman Grill hunter01 11-04-2005, 09:00 AM -UPDATE- After contacting the manufacturer of the muffler I learned 2 things. 1. The Vortex V baffle or 200 series design isn't available in a 2 1/4" dia. offset inlet center outlet that my truck requires. And 2. The Vortex Classic or 100 series is the least restrictive of the two designs. It has a straight through design without baffles and can be installed in either direction. Presented with this information the owner of the Meineke ordered me a new muffler and will install it for me next week free of charge. muzzy1maniac 11-04-2005, 09:09 AM And you get what for you inconvience??? "we'll repair our fuck up for free" is total BS! They owe you something for your time and trouble - I would threaten them with bad press on AF. Your expierience and the outcome will reach a lot of eyes!!! They could risk losing buisiness. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
