I have a '99 Taurus and even though there is plenty of coolant, the low coolant light comes on. What is probably the cause and what can be done to fix it, or ignore it. Thanks.

On mine I took the coolant tank off and dissconected the sensor. Only two screw but the reservoir pipes are short which kinda makes it a chore. Ford doesn't sell just the sensor, they only sell the whole reservoir. So it's dissconect or buy a new reservoir.

Oh, mine is a 97, but I think the 99 is the same.

What denisb said along with if you buy one off of ebay be careful.

They use different coolant tanks for the Duratec and the Vulcan or FFV
