I have a distinct whinning noise that I am guessing is coming from the supercharger. Any help?

Some whining noise out of an Eaton M90 Gen3 blower is normal depending on boost conditions. How noisey is it? Any grinding sound or chatter.

Try listening more carefully at the SC snout where the pulley is located. Depending on the mileage of your Regal GS the snout may need new bearings or a rebuild.

the sound varies and as you accellerate it gets louder. You know if I am coming down the street! I dont think that there is any grinding or chatter but I will put a ear to it. It has 93,000 miles on it

Are you the original owner or did you recently purchase the vehicle. It is common to hear supercharger whine when accelerating (boost conditions). At idle or cruising the whine should be minimal or reduced because the Eaton M90 uses a boost bypass valve which freespins the supercharger.

Let me know what you find.

Like BNAYLOR said the whining is normal...Eaton M90 is quieter than most......watch your boost gauge the higher PSI the louder the whine...if the boost gauge reads 0 you shouldnt hear any whine....if you do there may be another problem, such as PS pump or Transmission...IMO the whine from the S/C sounds cool...believe it or not there is a product that is used on N/A cars that adds to the intake to mimick the S/C noise

Funny you mentioned that. When my son was home from college (West Point, N.Y.) this past summer I let him drive my GS. He's a got a bunch of ricer buddies from high school. The supercharger whine and logo on the rear end freaked them out and none of them wanted to run him. He said one of them mentioned something about installing a supercharger or turbo sound mimicker cause he liked it so much. I guess nowadays the decals and wing spoiler is not enough. :lol2:
