WIP: 1963 Corvettecooltc2004 10-31-2005, 09:05 PM http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00011.JPG http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00012.JPG http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00020.JPG http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00021.JPG Never Built a model by MPC, but it seems fairly detailed. Its 1/16th scale, and I decided to go with Red. That coat is 1 wet coat, then wet sanded (damn dust) and Ill give her another wet coat either tomorrow or within the week . I stripped the chrome on the engine parts and painted them aluminium. Typical modeling company gives you everything in chrome. tonioseven 10-31-2005, 09:12 PM I miss MPC. Most of their kits live on through AMT/RC2/Ertl/whatever.:) Nice project! 99civichic 10-31-2005, 09:16 PM Dude, it's hard to keep up with you! *sigh* you remind me of me once, before college. Looks like a good start! sideshowscrappy 10-31-2005, 09:16 PM Nice project man. With the size of this one there is plenty of room for lots of detailing if your up to doing that. You should talk to Hawk on here he's done enough of these that he could probably tell you anything you need to know about it..................*Ryan* eph2 11-01-2005, 09:03 AM Looks Good! cooltc2004 11-02-2005, 05:55 PM Heres the engine, I stripped off all the chrome on the intake, fuel injection, valve covers, and oil pan and painted them aluminum. The block is Chevy Orange. http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00024.JPG sideshowscrappy 11-02-2005, 05:58 PM That engine is lookin real nice. Keep up the nice progress on this one. It looks a lot better without the chrome plateing............*Ryan* cooltc2004 11-07-2005, 11:38 PM Been a week almost since I was able to work on this again. I got alot of painting done, including shooting the car with another coat of color, so after that drys, if the paint is lookin good, Ill clear it, if not, Ill wet sand it AGAIN and shoot some more color :) Here is the chasis with the engine just chillin. The front suspension is fully functional. http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00041.jpg cooltc2004 11-12-2005, 03:53 PM Deleted previous pictures to save bandwidth, but will replace with newer, better pictures :) (with the help of a bipod :)) http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00006.JPG Painted the Dash Semi-Gloss black, and painted around the chrome pieces that go on the dashboard with black paint. Seats are Semi-Gloss black as well (to simulate leather :D) http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00008.JPG http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00009.JPG These are shots at different angles of everything just SITTING in place. The carpet is flat black (dont know of many cars with shiny carpet :)) http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00011.JPG http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00012.JPG Better shots of the engine. I tryed out the bipod, and boy am I glad I did! Macro option enabled, with lighting from behind, came out good. Comments or Concerns welcome PLEASE! 1986Z28 11-12-2005, 04:05 PM looks good, fan blades should be flat black im pretty sure, glove com faceplate and shift plate should also be aluminum, oil pan should have also been chevy engine red, trans should be aluminum cooltc2004 11-12-2005, 05:27 PM The transmission is aluminium. I painted the oil pan aluminium out of habbit since it came chrome from the kit. I have 2 problems, one is that this aluminium paint doesnt come off in dot3, and second is I like the way it looks. The aluminium oil pan and the chrome fan kinda go good together. The interior pieces Im going to leave alone because not only are the pieces you mentioned glued in (the only ones too), but I dont have anything to touch up the Corvette emblem to make it look chrome. /edit: You wanna see how much I was going to keep that oilpan NOT stock? http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00019.JPG When you pointed it out, it gave me a push to get r done. Oh and heres a picture of the working suspension: http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00017.JPG 1986Z28 11-13-2005, 11:58 AM The transmission is aluminium. One is an LS1, and the other is a Straight 6 from 1953 (customized, of course :)) http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00026.JPG 1986Z28 11-15-2005, 04:23 PM looking good, gave me inspiration to work on my 1/8 vette GvEman 11-15-2005, 04:54 PM Nice! xyfalconsrock 11-15-2005, 09:52 PM I got a '72 LT1 waiting in the wings, makes me wanna start it. cooltc2004 11-17-2005, 10:55 AM Well, I was looking at the body, and as you can tell in the pictures, its flat. I dont know why, but I can only speculate that the plastic absorbed part of the paint, or something, making it look flat overall, and shiny in spots. Well that ment I was going to have to clear it, which I really didn't want to do, because I wanted to build it as close to acurate as possible. I picked up the body yesterday, and noticed something rubbed on it and some silver was on it, not alot, but enough. So I used water, and it didn't come off, so I tryed those pre alcohol pads that they give you when you have to prick yourself, or whatever. Not only did it get rid of the silver, but it shined the body just enough to look like a 63 Vette would! woot! Heres a picture, it was HARD to capture it, thats why I did alot of explaining. http://www.ohnoes-fbody.com/images/tc/models/corvette/63/DSC00041.jpg I rubbed the bottom half with the pad, and left the top half for you all to see. On the top half, you can see it mostly flat red, with some shiny spots here and there, and on the bottom you can even see the reflection of some of the words. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
