I have an 89 535i and I am getting a new exhaust for it. I was also thinking about replacing the headers and thought I'd get some suggestions before i choose so does anyone have any info? I want something affordable, but of course better performance and power is worth it most of the time. Any suggestions?

Jeff Ireland at Ireland Engineering (http://www.bmw2002.com/) makes a set of shorty headers for the m30 engine for $375.00, and can have them ceramic coated for an extra $130.00. You won't realize any extra performance until you get to the higher RPM ranges though, and even then it won't be a whole lot. The stock exhaust system is very well designed and pretty hard to beat. Of course, a set of headers and a B&B TriFlo exhaust would sound very aggressive. If you want some extra sound, do the exhaust. If you want more performance, skip the exhaust and put the money into a chip and a 3.91 LSD rear end. That will set you back in your seat and give you a silly a$$ grin that wont go away.
