repair to computer ECMrhinologistics 10-31-2005, 06:13 PM has anyone ever opened up a dodge computer to do repairs? I have a 95 5.9L ram van 3500 with an electrical short in the ecm. is there a way to remove the resin goop that covers the components on the inside. it appears to be a simple fix if i can get inside without destroying it HELP! MT-2500 10-31-2005, 06:51 PM If it is bad a rebuilt or even used computer is the way to go. To repair one you would have to be a electronis expert and a have all of the parts and info on the computer. Also some places will rebuild or check your old one. Do a google search. Mt-2500 rhinologistics 10-31-2005, 06:56 PM well it is a single year application i have tried parts houses from british columbia to florida. the dealer has one but it is 500 $$ i can fix it if i can remove the resin covering it, but cant figure out how to remove the resin i have the parts, well the common parts anywaythe caps and resistors and some auto grade transistors. MT-2500 10-31-2005, 09:00 PM Te only i would know of to get the resin off would be to heat it and see if it will melt off. Try putting it in a big drain pan and stick it in a oven. Might work and might not. Good Luck MT-2500 fasstdak 11-07-2005, 11:54 AM Be careful removing the resing or gel with a heat gun. You may want to look into a reman PCM from Napa - they run about $300. Repairing them isn't worth the effort though. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
