Suspension for 1994 CivicMusielewicz 10-29-2005, 04:39 PM Hey I was wondering if you guys could help me. I just put 17 inch rims on my 1994 Civic Dx. Whenever I take a sharp corner fast, the wheels will rub on the wheel wells. What do I need to replace to stop the wheels from rubbing? Stiffer springs, shocks, sway bar, or something else? Please let me know what I should replace, and what brand would be the best. Thanks! BullShifter 10-29-2005, 11:09 PM What size tires are being used? Is the car lowered? Musielewicz 10-30-2005, 05:47 PM The car has not been lowered. It has stock suspension. The wheels are P205. BullShifter 10-30-2005, 07:11 PM The whole tire size would be helpful - example P205/40 R17 Also the wheel width & backspacing will help. Musielewicz 10-31-2005, 05:13 PM Sorry about that. Wheel is 17 by 7, P205/40ZR17 84W. Hope this helps. Thanks. LOUIEJR58 11-01-2005, 11:56 AM sounds like u got a bad suspension period. i got the exact same set up on my civic and got no problems. u need to change your springs and struts, since they work together.make sure to check the offset of the rim your using also as this can cause the rubbin also snowman2005 11-01-2005, 10:07 PM just get rid of the 17s for something smaller. my old 17s with stock suspension rubed too during hard u turns.stiffer suspension sway bars etc will help but as long as it doesnt involve lowering the car. also if u happen to have the wheels off teh car check behind the spokes for ramdom info and look for the offset. Musielewicz 11-02-2005, 09:53 PM Thanks for the advice, but I love my rims and wouldnt trade them for the world. I dont have the wheels off yet, but will soon because of winter. What exactly should be replaced? What brand or brands would you guys recommend? BullShifter 11-03-2005, 12:00 AM Sorry about that. Wheel is 17 by 7, P205/40ZR17 84W. Hope this helps. Thanks. All the numbers are correct the only issue could be wrong backspacing. I agree with snowman get rid of the 17's, 16" is the biggest I would go on a civic. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
