Trio of Hot Rods in progressAndy Jones 10-29-2005, 02:33 PM Although they're just mock ups at the moment thought I'd post these 3: Track nose Model A http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/rodproject.jpg AMT Body on AMT Phantom Vickie rails with Model Car Garage tracknose resin & photoetch grille, the windshield has been chopped and leaned back. The hood, side panels & windshield will be smoothed. It'll just be kerbside using the modern interior panels from the Vickie kit. The front tyres are wider than I'd have liked they're the best set of big & littles I have. Haven't decided on a colour as yet but I'm kicking around the idea of orange with white scallops. 48 Ford http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/rodproject1.jpg This is the Revell kit with a 5 window body from Perrys Resin & pie cut hood from Replica's & Minatures. Again it'll be kerbside as I don't have any donor kits with modern suspension (plus I'm lazy !) - no ideas on colour at the moment. 48 Chevy Delivery http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/rodproject2.jpg The Galaxy kit with a Replica's & Minatures resin body (mastered by Rik Hoving - very talented guy)- I'll probably put an engine in this one as I have a built six from the Galaxy kit knocking around. The suspension has been lowered and one paint idea I'm toying with is black with contrasting colour rims & scallops (Yellow or lime green ?). Thanks for looking - I'll post more progress as I make it. Andy Okiemodelbuilder 10-29-2005, 03:03 PM Hot Rod coolness A J!!! I have several ideas for some hot rods if I can ever get myself out of the Pro Touring muscle car scene. If I could only crank them out as fast as you!!! As for the for your front tire dilemma on the roadster, you could cut a rib or two out of the center of those tires and narrow the rim accordingly or use the rubber band tires found in the Revell Tuner kits like the Acura Integra. Marc willimo 10-29-2005, 04:06 PM Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Can't wait to see what comes of these! white97ex 10-29-2005, 04:13 PM awesome...those wheels and tires, although like you said the fronts are a little wide, look right at home on that model A. It sort of gives it that quadra deuce look tigeraid 10-29-2005, 04:50 PM Andy: Loving that tracknose, I've been considering ordering it for one of my hotrod builds... will it fit pretty much any 1/24 '32 Ford, or is there a specific one for the T and another for the 32, or... ? Andy Jones 10-29-2005, 05:14 PM Andy: Loving that tracknose, I've been considering ordering it for one of my hotrod builds... will it fit pretty much any 1/24 '32 Ford, or is there a specific one for the T and another for the 32, or... ? Thanks John As far as I know MCG just offer track noses for the models T & A - I've tried the A one against a 32 hood and unfortunately it's just a tad too small - I suppose you could always widen it with a strip of plastic but the casting is fairly thin and there's a chance it might crack (as mine did when I was cutting it to accomodate the suspension). Marc Thanks Marc I think I still have one set of Integra tyres left somwhere so I think thats the way I'll go Cheers Andy GvEman 10-29-2005, 08:03 PM Sounds very promessing! I love the 48 Ford... I have always wanted to build one of those... A friend of mine have a '46 Ford have a lookHere (http://www.msmeet.com/Bildarkiv/Traffen04/original/Ford46.jpg) sorry for the bad pic.. i get you a new one if you want it. Keep em coming! ol' dude 10-29-2005, 09:45 PM Those are looking way too cool!! Keep us posted on the progress!! tigeraid 10-29-2005, 10:27 PM Damn, I was hoping to put together a 32... oh well. Amazon 10-30-2005, 04:57 AM I especially (? spelling) like the `48!! Dont bother with engines, i donīt include them in half my projects! Why? `cause you cant see all the glorious detail when itīs buried down a enginebay. One option is to build a engine afterwards and put on one of those enginestands that old AMT kits have. Andy Jones 10-30-2005, 11:06 AM Plucked up the courage to have a go at the p/e grill on the track nose today - it takes some trial & error burnishing to achieve the correct curve to make it fit the resin nose and drilling the 4 holes that accept the brass pins to secure it was a bit scary but I think it's turned out ok (it's just held loosely by yellow spark plug wire at the moment). http://members.aol.com/jonesandy898/rodproject3.jpg I've swapped the front tyres for ones from the Revell Tuner series per Marcs suggestion - much better imo. Thanks for looking Andy PS / GvEman Your friends 46 is way cool - bet he loves speedbumps  (or perhaps you don't have them where you are). Okiemodelbuilder 10-30-2005, 11:15 AM Simply awesome!!! Those front tires are perfect and I love the track nose. If you don't mind me copying, I'll have to get me one of those track noses. Marc tonioseven 10-30-2005, 11:25 AM Damn!! :sunglasseX100!!!
