I just put in a THOR system in my truck, but when i remote start my car, the alarm activates, and won't allow my car to start. What's wrong?
Everything else works fine, but this, please help.

when you install an auto-start kit, I think you have to have ALL of the sensors installed AND wired up correctly. You probably missed one.

Well, first I'll tell you that I've installed a few of those Thor systems and I wouldn't use them as a paperweight!
That aside, what kind of car do you have and what information did you use to get it installed?

Hi, I have also installed a Thor system, everything works besides the tach signal, where should I connect it? The manual says to +12V when the car is running...A tach signal is ACV or not?
Best regards Steen, Sweden.

why would an alarm have a tach ?

Success of starting when using the remote starter. Maybe wrong term "tach", I donīt know.

why would an alarm have a tach ?
because alarm/remote start combo alarms need to either see a tach or voltage sensing.
Not sure what that wire should go to. On the ones I sell/install we usually connect it to either a coil or injector wire.

I am in the middle of putting in a THOR system, and I have the locks working, but unfortunately I dont know enough about cars to know where to look for my ignition coil to tie into the remote start function.
I have a 98 Ford Taurus.
I basically know nothing about cars; I mean I know a little, but probably nothing like you guys do... so I thought I would see where I should start looking. I see this 6-plug connector on the side of my engine that I thought was my coil, but the wire it told me to look for (Yellow w White strip) I couldnt find anywhere.
I thought I would ask you guys before I cut open all of my wires under my hood to tie into the motor sense switch. :banghead:

Thank you for the wiring list, it is appreciated.
The problem I'm having now is where to look under the hood. I dont know if I should be looking around the engine, behind the battery, etc.
Keep in mind that I know next to nothing about cars, so that just makes the situation even better.
I believe I'm looking for a yellow with (white or gray) stripe on it, but the once I've spliced into arent sensing any voltage change when I hit the button on my remote. (AKA, it wouldnt start if I hooked it up to that wire.)
Any suggestions on where to look under the hood? Technical terms are good, too as I have a car book that lines out each subsystem (which I thought would have helped me find that wire, but unfortunately didn't, as it doesnt list color of wire with each subsystem.)

Now that classes are over with, I'm going to start working on my car again, and I'm wondering if you guys have any way of helping me over the internet.
I have a digital camera, so I can take pictures of what I'm working on and what's going on... because the problem I'm running into right now was that the thing that I thought was the motor sense switch wasnt sending a signal when I started the car (AKA not sensing that the motor is on). So, if any of you guys know what I might look for, or what I can do... that'd be great. Thanks guys!

I have never done a remote start and ponchonutty doesn't come around much anymore. I would think that "tach" signal is the same wire you would tap into for a tachometer. I would say to look around the distributor.

Once the tach is hooked up, you have to make the remote starter "learn" the signal. You don't have to use the actual tach either. A signal from an injector will work too. Just find the wire color that's not common with the other injectors.

sorry paul figured out they were relays, but still havin a hard time to figure out what they actually all connect to, the diagram they show isn't that great. this is my first alarm/car starter i've tried installing. So if you could help that would be great. Thanx Paul.

I can try .... can you scan the wiring diagram, or provide a link - maybe we can make heads or tails of it.

I have read alot about the problems thor is giving people and I wish I never bought the dang thing but I did and want to atleast try to use it..
I have read over the poorly translated manuel and the thing that is stumping me is the lock and unlock wires.
I have a 98 eagle talon. If anyone has installed one of these in this tpe of car please hit me up and help if you can with the 6 diff. freaken wires they have compaired to the 2 wire switch I have in the door.
Any help woud be greatly GREATLY helpful.:banghead:

it probably has two sets, one for cars that have pos lock and the other for cars with neg lock

Aye, I messed around with it today to try to figure it out.. Seems to work now.. had to jump the pos/neg org with the const. power and pos/neg yellow to the ground.
Got it all set up and installed.. Only prob now is the remote start. When armed or what not to start the car it turns the ACC on as its about to start but does nothing after that ACC goes off. Not sure if its the motor wire (sensor wire) that I have connected to my tack wire or not. Will disconnect that just to see if that could be it. If its not then Im back to the drawing board.
Right now I have the blue to the acc blue from the replay, the 3 relays the reds jumped to one to the const. power the black to the ON the white to the other ON asssuming its the AC ON as when I start the car that wires output dies till the car is started and the blue wire to the start wire that has no current when on ACC or ON but lights up when the key is turned to START.
If this makes any sense to anyone that could help that would be great....

I wonder if this is the prob then that it has to learn the signal.. how do you make the alarm learn the signal? I have not yet unhooked the tack wire to test just curious as I just re-read this?
