I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab witha 4.7. Last week I got in and tried to start it but the battery was dead. I jumped it but found that it would only stay running if I was there gassing the pedal. Now, whenever i start it it seems like it might not have enoughjuice to do it and when it does, i still have to warm it up a bit befoe it will stay running. TYoday I had to use the hazard lights for about five minutes. The truck wouldn't start and needed jumping. What could the problem be? Thank you.

Did you replace the battery?? Sound like it's not holding a charge anymore

I just took the battery out and am waiting for a new one. It is weird becaue sometimes it starts, other times nothing. About half an hour ago I stopped at the gas station for two minutes. I left nothing on and it wouldn't start. But at my job site, it sat all day with nothing on and it started just fine. I just used a voltmeter and found the battery to be 10.35. That is too low right? It is a 12 volt system so of course that is too low. It was just really weird how this whole thing came about. Out of nowhere one night I got in and it wouldnt start. Now, at times when i turn the key it wont even turn over, but if i hold the key there long enough it will begin to turn and sometimes start.
