Help! My 91 Camry has been sitting idle since july (the inspection ran out and we didnt need to drive it). Tried to start it and it wouldnt go, battery was drained but now charged (battery is 8 months old). Alternator was not working and is now fixed. We put it back on the car and it would not start other than by boosting it and as soon as my husband hit the brake it shut off and we heard a clicking, which we thought as related to the auto start. He then disabled the autostart and then tried it again. He was able to drive it about 10 feet and then it shut off. When we tried to restart it, it some of the dash lights came on briefly and then went off and it seemed like the car was trying to turn over (which hadn't been the case before)..the clock was on, but would turn off when he touched the brake. Could this be a fuse, or a faulty connection of some kind. Please help!

No, the battery is still too weak. When you step on the brake the brake lights come on. That is draining what little charge there is in the battery. Charge the battery overnight from an outside source and then try to restart the car. If that doesn' help, take it back to where you bought it and have them check it out. They will run a test on it. They may want to charge it themselves and then run the test again. If it still doesn't hold a charge, they should give you a new battery. (You mentioned it was only 8 months old.) Put the battery back in the car or have them do it and it should start.
