Put the hurt on a C6 and an mod' impalajeffs_GTP_sleeper 10-26-2005, 01:05 AM I was driving back from Santa Cruz to Vallejo and about ten minutes intot the drive I noticed a nice black C6 as I passed it around 72mph. I look back to see if he changed speeds and sure enough he wanted to see whats up with my car. So he is pacing me until we hit a straight away and he comes up next to me and nails it around 70mph, so I do the same and walked him easily and shut down around 115mph. So he cruises back up and I here him yell out the window, "your car is a POS!" and I just waved and went on my way. About an hour later I noticed a car trying to catch up to me as I was going about 80mph. I slowed down a little and as soon as he got along side of me he braked and slowed down to pace me. I didn't know what it was at first but it looked huge and slow. So when he had trailed back a bit, I didnt think much of it, until he decided he would do some sort of flyby. I thought it didnt stand a chance even with a 20-30mph head start so I didnt floor it until he was at my side. I quickly walked him and shut down at about 115mph again. What confused me is how well the impala hung with me. I pulled on him with ease but not like a car that is only trapping 100-105, it seemed like his car had to be as powerful as a C5. I dont know but I figure he had some mods done to it. I always heard the 94-96 impalas have good topend, I guess they do. I trap 118 in my track setup, so with slightly less boost and more weight I probably would lose a couple mph so 115-116ish. It was nice to finally get some more street races. I have put in 5-6K but only 3-4K if you dont include the transmission. I am still on my original built trans. :) The stocker never died completely but nearly wore out at 50K miles. Luckily I have received a sponsership from ZZperformance so I should be able to add some power this winter. The current tentative plan is to add a larger cam and do alot of work on the heads. Also Ill be swapping in a better IC core, possibly dropping another 50lbs from the car(rear window/GA front brakes), and maybe getting larger headers. Right now I have around 350-360whp and with this stuff I should be ~400whp. I am getting married in the Spring and will need a 4 door (getting rid of the VR4 hopefully)...but I want a nice one. I was thinking of either an Altima SE-R or the new turbo Mazda 6. I guess now getting a GTP and modding it will have to be a very strong consideration. Not too many Altimas walking C6's. Nice kill btw. Also, where do you get all of your parts? If anything i would imagine you want weight for the fwd traction..but that's in the front only. On the street I can break them loose at 60-70mph. :eek: Yeah the car is about 3550lbs w/o driver stock and I have removed quite a bit of weight. Lets just say its a little lighter than a C6 when I race at the track, on the street I add about ~100lbs back. :)) How else can I get this thing moving with only ~350whp. :icon16: :smile: In some of my vids you can even see the bumper fluttering, LOL. I did finally lock up the rear suspension the last time I hit the track, wow what a difference. No rear sag and the tires stay planted. I was looking at 05 GTP's in my area and they are way cheaper than I thought. In Atlantic Canada, you can pick one up with 50k or less km's for like $22,000 CAN. What a great deal those cars are.
