what size engine do i have?turbojusty 10-25-2005, 08:35 PM I picked up an 8cyl on the weekend. Its out of a 1979 Sportsman cube van, 3 speed auto. I was told it was a 318, but while browsing the internet looking for more info on the motor, someone said to look on the front left side of the block and thats where I can find the displacement. Well, the number on the block was this: 4006830-360-9....so, now i dont really know what that means, but if thats the number thats showing my displacement, i dont see a 318 anywhere in there...am i getting my hopes up for nothing here or do i have a 360 and not a 318?? thanx mike smithm 10-25-2005, 09:43 PM just figure out the litres if you can smithm 10-25-2005, 09:44 PM if not then it might be a 318 more than likely Blylock 10-26-2005, 04:05 AM I picked up an 8cyl on the weekend. From: http://www.allpar.com/mopar/318.html 2000mudder 10-26-2005, 01:19 PM as far as i can tell, you have a 360. the casting numbers are more specific than the stamped numbers with chrysler. imagine that. post casting numbers from block and heads TurboDuck 11-06-2005, 09:42 PM It sounds like you have a 360 - another way to tell is to look at the torque convertor. The 360 is an externally balanced engine, the convertor will have an extra weight welded on it if it's a 360. The front damper is different as well. Good luck, Gary. dadodgekid 11-08-2005, 05:52 PM its definitely a 360 the last 4 casting numbers on the block will tell you this , which in fact, say -360-9 so you have a 360 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
