Engine missing

I have an '95 Accord V6, the tachometer, will start to jump around in conjunction with a surge in engine, (like a miss but seems to be smooth)
This is an intermittent problem. Any ideas on where to start looking will be appreciated.

I'd try pulling computer codes even there is no engine light on, codes could be stored in there. + give us some more info - miles, when does it most likely to surge, when was the last time U tuned it, does it idle smooth most of the time.... ?

Car has 120,000 miles on it. It starts fine and idles smooth. The problem seems to show up when engine is warm. The surge is not noticeable at idle, although the tach will still jump. I just tried new cap rotor etc. and had no effect. It accels fine and seems to have good power. I don't know if it relates or not but just in case the water temp gage is also inop. Hope this is useful, I appreciate the help.

Hi: Im having the same problem. I noticed that at 70 mph, the engine surges due to the trans popping in and out of lockup. Its probably happening to you too. Its not so much the engine missing as it is the rpm signal being disrupted and the transmission control module not knowing the true engine rpms, so it pops in and out of lockup. I am just now tracing the circuit and it goes through the coil. The car runs fine cold. When it warms up it starts in. Could be the coil getting hot and failing. Not sure. ITS NOT THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE. I changed that already cause its part of the circuit and it seemed logical. Email me at [email protected]
