I have checked battery, starter, neutral safety switch and ruled that out. When i turn the key i get no noise. starter does not engage at all. Tried starting it by manually engaging the starter but the car will not stay on. I ruled out any fuel issues since every once in a while the car will start normally and run fine. I have also checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. Is there anything else i need to look at before i open up the steering column and take a look at the ignition switch?

I did notice that the security light stays on. could that be the problem? could there be a problem with the key itself?
