Camshafts, timing, etc.

Want to start a general thread on camshafts, suppliers, lift, and timing vs. performance, torque curves, dyno results, etc. Got links?

Also seeking info on VCT schedule (actual advance/retard values) vs. RPM/torque loading/throttle position (command). How many inputs are used to determine the timing? How can the input signals or output transducer be modified? Are these variables addressed in performance chips, and if so how does the chip programmer know what cam you are using? Do these guys run dyno checks with popular cam cuts and publish performance matrix tables? Again, got links?

After things pile up here a while, it might be a good idea to email this thread link to some manufactures/programmers and ask them to state their basis for what they profess -or are they afraid of their precious techno secrets being stolen or wasted by the bent minds of small engine stranglers?

the VCT shuts off at full throttle so most people just take it off since its just causes problems when tunning.

How-to? Any CPU or SES light snags? Does this shift the torque curve to the left?
