The pushbuttons are probably not the problem. The symptoms you describe are more likely in the thumbwheel comtrols above the pushbuttons. There is a microswitch that is engaged when you turn the fan control thumbwheel. It is a DIY project that requires you to disassemble the center console, remove the thumbwheel controls and then install a new microswitch. Here's a link on how to do it.
