Going to drive it off a CLIFFtomogchi 10-24-2005, 04:15 PM At this point, im am feed up with my vehicle running on only 4 cylnders. I have 6 cylnders, but what is the sense of using only freakin 4???????? 1991 buick regal Custom, 3800 motor Any ideas other than the ignition module (base plate) or the coil packs? No spark for the third or sxith clynder. I know the ignition module isnt bad, I have tested it in another regal (same thing, cept a '92, works fine). Packs are fine also. There is no spark coming/going from 3/6 coil pack. Should i be looking at the ecm? I have looked at the wiring harness that runs form the top half of the motor to the crank sensor, to the ignition module, to the back of the motor. There are NO cracks/ bumps/ irregularities minus for the dirty-ness of not being cleaned for 3 like years. If i cant figure out what this problem is, i think i hear a derby or a cliff for this car. I have a little bit of cahs invested in this, and its pissing me off. List of New parts New Alternator New heater core hoses New fuel pump New fuel Filter NEw fuel lines New fuel injectors New baseplate (plus the cost of 2 from a junkyard, and the original) New Harmonic Balancer New Serpintine (sp?) Belt New coil packs (+3 from a junkyard, plus the 3 orig.) New brake calipers all around New Brake lines all around New Battery And the list rolls on and on.. Please help befroe i force this thing to an early grave. Bill GTP Dad 10-24-2005, 04:38 PM This sounds like two possible issues. 1 a bad wiring harness from the ecm to the ignition module or a bad ecm. Either will cause this issues and both may need to be replaced. I would try the ecm first since it is much easier to change than the wiring harness. One from a wrecking yard will be a good choice for money savings you may also want to purchase the wiring harness too since you may need it if the ecm doesn't solve the issue. tomogchi 10-24-2005, 04:41 PM Okay, Thanks Ill go grab them tommorow from a junk yard, and see if they work. Thanks! Bill maxwedge 10-24-2005, 07:30 PM Is this the same engine you were planning on modifying to 300 hp, did you attempt anything in that direction? This car came from a family member in good working order, how did you arrive at replacing that list of parts? tomogchi 10-24-2005, 10:41 PM The car did come from family, and i dont know how it all started. I think it most likely started because i started to race Civic's with little tips and stuff.... I swear, at 171,000 in change it all went wrong. Lmao. All my modding money went into the car so far; and the only thing i actualy wound up getting for this was a intake for a '04 cavilier; that i have yet to install due to further problems...... And yes it was the same engine i was going to modify to 300 horse... But Modding does no good without a running vehicle. lol... Bill HotZ28 10-25-2005, 08:45 PM I know the feeling of how it is to blow the doors off a civic in a Buick. I just had one last week (with 10K of mods), that tried to stay with my PAU, boy was he surprised!! Any car with 171K will need a lot of attention and parts to keep it winning. Check the wiring harness from the ICM as it runs to the ECM, as suggested above, especially if it goes under the alternator. That area seems to be a wear point. tomogchi 10-25-2005, 10:29 PM Yeah.,... got an ecm and the harness the runs on the right hand side of the block (for the icm and etc.)..... No fix, But i did happen to notice something. at approx 2500+ rpms, i have spark in the 3/6 pack........ Now i am scratching my head.. wth am i missing? Maybe a crank sensor or a cam sensor? But god i lvoed the feeling of my 3800 rumbling past a fully modded civic... hehe, its great....... Btw, not to sound retarted or anything, but what is a PAU? Thanks, Bill GTP Dad 10-26-2005, 12:39 PM With all the parts you have already replaced it won't hurt to replace the crank position sensor and the cam position sensor. The spark problem could certainly be related to either one. HotZ28 10-26-2005, 07:34 PM PAU = Park Avenue Ultra (supercharged with 2.2 drive pulley) :cya: tomogchi 10-26-2005, 07:48 PM Hahaha, Sweet. Im broke till friday now, But Ill probally go get both, and get it all done at once. Thanks, and I'll let you guys know the turn out. Bill tomogchi 10-27-2005, 12:00 PM .... I feel stupid..... I should have jsut said that i was going to get the crank sensor. Oh well, lmao.. Thanks, Bill woopy 07-09-2006, 09:44 PM Hello all, i'm inhertiting, a 1991 buick regal don't know the engine size. Plus you may get better visbility. Also, be sure to get and post your engine size. POSTING IN CLOSED OR OUTDATED THREADS: If a thread has been closed, there is probably a logical reason for it.
