How I found mine:

Also, keep in mind the Stratos used the Ferrari Dino engine, so do some searches for that one too ;)

Cheers puffyrs! Excellent photos!! Added bonus of the Rothmans Mk2 Escort, as I just got my S27 decals through the post the other day.

Was that the original rally car or a very well prepared replica??

Yes this was an original David Sutton Car.
I'm glad you liked the photos.I will be added new ones soon.
Also I have planned a trip to David Sutton Motorsport where they still have a MK2 Escort.
So I will be taking some more photos.

Thanks
Puffyrs

Wheyhey...just got the Doyusha 1/12 Monte Stratos today + a handy reference book! :)

Which engine are you after details for? I've just started researching these beasts and the engines came in 12v and 24v variants.

Hi John,

Dunno what I am after. At the moment, I have an ebay bid for the Revell variant (1977 Monte, I think it is). What reference book do you have??

Spent a few hours tonight going through the book. It's called 'Lancia Stratos -30 Years Later' by Andrea Curami. It's a good read but (I'm guessing here) translated from Italian and is a little short of nitty-gritty details eg. it provides factory body/interior colour specs for a particular chassis # and a history of races won but no cross references between the two? :(

I was hoping this would be a simple build because the '77 Monte car (my kit version too) should be well documented, but I've already opened a can of worms without opening the box! The book has a useful cut-away drawing of the car plus 3 very amateurish pics during factory preperation in '76.

The engine has the orangy/red flat shaped rockerbox covers indicating that it's a 24v jobbie but the airbox is missing. According to the drawing the Doyusha airbox is wrong and I bet yours is too. I've read about some of these differences on an old AF thread, but I can't find it now. :( Here's hoping the resident Lancia nut will jump in!

According to the book, the 24v lump was 'prohibited in speed races from '77 and in rallies from the following year'

Let me know via PM if you want the book scans. Can't find any pics of the airbox design...the model here looks to have captured it perfectly though:

That said the kit engine here is the 12v unit...bugger, I knew this wouldn't be easy!

Let me know if you want the scans

Thanks John. Hmmm, I am confused! I have bought an aftermarket resin engine, and it comes with two air intake options. One is a 6 funnel intake, the other is just a airbox cover. Now, being a competition car, I though it would be logical to use funnel intakes. Now I'm just not sure! :dunno:

It depends one which competition car, some used velocity stacks with a surrounding paper type filter, and some used a full air box.
The engine kit you have is copied from the Fujimi enthusiast kit, which could be built as either a Stradale or competition version depending on which kit you got.

Which exact model are you building?
