Does the light come on when theres a tranny problem and will the comp spit out error codes if the lights not on?
The tranny slips a little when going from 2nd to 3rd. This only happens when the engine is cold. Does anyone know what might casue this or if it could be the tranny on the way out?
When the engine is warm and I put the truck into reverse it clunks a bit and then makes a weird whine for a second or two before its fully engaged then clunks a tiny bit going back into drive with no whine noise. Its parked on level ground. Any ideas on what this could be?
Ive owned the truck for a month or so, Im not sure when the last it was serviced. Ive checked the fluid a couple of times, the color of the fluid has been consistent and bright in color, no discoloration and no leaking.
Thanks for any help

Check the fluid level with engine at normal operating tempature and tranny in Neutral.
the clunk you hear when putting tranny into REVERSE is normal but the whine is not so normal, this could also be caused by low fluid, I recommend changing the fluid and filter.

I assume from your symptoms that it is a 4.0 liter? What dk says is true. Also if it slips or will not shift into 3rd when its cold,it sounds like the front clutch seals are worn, this is very common.
