10-20-2005, 08:28 PM
I was just on tirerack.com looking at tires and was wondering what the difference is in "touring" "grand touring" "passenger" & "all season" .
What would be used on a lesabre and why?
I never really understood the different varities. well except for all season which is self explanitory.

The word 'passenger' ("P") on a tire is there just to distinguish it from a light truck ("LT") tire.
Generally, light truck tires have stiffer structures that allow for higher air pressures and more weight carrying ability, and often more agressive tread. However, these tires often provide a more harsh ride and more road noise than a passenger tire.
'Touring' and Grand touring often are just fancy names put on a tire. Generally, these tires are aimed more towards comfort and general purpose use, and distinguish the tire from all-out high performance tires.
