Millage with your 3800LeSabre97mint 10-17-2005, 11:24 PM Hello I'm wondering what everyone is getting for millage with their 3800. Would you post your millage and what you know about what type of maintenance you have done on your car? I've only gotten around 23 - 24 with my 97 LeSabre. I have around 105,000 miles on it. I've checked the O2's with a PC based OBDII scanner and they look like they're working fine. How many replaced their O2 sensors and didn't feel any difference? Who did feel a difference? What was the millage on the sensor? Should I be getting better millage? Thanks for your rely(s) Regards Dan LeBuick 10-18-2005, 02:25 AM I get about 22 mpg on my 2002 PA but I'm a lead foot! polarzak 10-18-2005, 01:35 PM The on board computer says an average of 8.2 liters/100 kms, which converts to 28.6 miles per US gallon combined city/highway driving. (34.45 miles per Canadian gallon). happydog500 10-18-2005, 03:50 PM When my dad had the car, he got 31mpg. Since I bought it, I get 28.6 last time I checked. Right now my 1997 has 122,000. My dad did all the maintance right on scedule. Mine uses oil. Makes me mad. I change it every 3,000 miles. I need to add a quart in the middle, then at 3000 I'm almost a quart low. Seems to use a lot more on the freeway then in town. Shouldn't use it like that with only 122,000. I'm happy with the milage tho. Are there other scanner choices? I'm thinking of getting one for my 98 and 03. LeSabre97mint 10-18-2005, 10:04 PM When my dad had the car, he got 31mpg. I'm thinking of getting one for my 98 and 03. I got this OBDII PC based tester: http://obddiagnostics.com/ Software is free. They provide a schamatic to build the interface, or differenent build level kits, to prebuilt. I bought the prebuilt becase lack of time. I like it, however, I wish it would read ABS and Air Bags Dan 93buicklesabrelmtd 10-18-2005, 11:16 PM 28 mpg with a real heavy foot. It prob gets about 30 when you feather it, like dont get the rpms over 2. effenfish 10-20-2005, 08:10 PM We're getting about 25-26 mpg out of our 1997 Custom, keeping the speed below 60. Tires make a difference too (rolling resistance). happydog500 10-23-2005, 09:19 PM Don't seem to be leaking it. I had my engin steam cleaned to see where it was leaking. That was 5 months a go and the motor is still very clean. I don't see any somke at all. Just low on oil. A frend told me of a car he got, smoked like crazy. He put in motor cleanner. He said it stopped smoking ("Rings Stuck?"). Not sure if I should try since I thought it should be the other way, get that thick, stuff that clogs things up. Chris. jase386 10-25-2005, 09:53 AM 2000 lesabre, get 22.5 around town when using 10%ethanol gas, and 24 around town when using phillips 66 true gasoline. 87 octane Greig8 11-11-2005, 12:12 PM 1990 Buick LeSabre Limited Coupe 3800 3.8 V-6 Pennzoil Platinum 5-W30 74,000 miles around 20-22 mpg sturdei 11-11-2005, 05:42 PM 1993 Buick LeSabre Limited 3800 3.8 V-6 cheap Wal-Mart oil... 198,000 miles around 21-22 mpg with a lead foot. elsolo 11-11-2005, 07:22 PM 21 around town in traffic 25 mixed freeway and town 28 freeway only Both my 97 lesabres are in the above range, I always use the AC and I do a decent amount of flooring it. 92LESABRE 11-12-2005, 10:20 PM I only get about 19 in the city and on a damn hard lead foot and when im on the higway at 65 cruise set i get about 30 1992 Lesabre Custom with 96,200 miles on good service records and air in the tires Smith1000 11-13-2005, 07:53 AM I get about exactly the same as elsolo. I have done slightly better than 28 straight highway-at times. My mileage was down to 22-23 mixed driving and I replaced the plugs and the O2 sensor. I think it was just the cold weather though. Seems like it drops about 2 mpg when it is colder out. georgiaboy107 03-30-2006, 02:02 AM 89 Lesabre, 239,000 miles on it.....28 mpg average. I replaced my air filter with a K&N.
