View Full Version : Really cheap paint job Really cheap paint job AuroraMorningstar 10-16-2005, 08:51 PM The car is only apraised at $200-250 so i really dont want to spend much at all. I'm a girl just out of high school and dont know the first thing about cars and dont really care how great the job is, id be happy to paint it with a brush if you directed me to the right paint even. Help? please? ViperJ 10-16-2005, 11:13 PM How is the body condition of the car, if its just the paint peeling then it sounds like a Macco special> People will complain about overspray and stuff but for $400-$500 what do you expect AuroraMorningstar 10-17-2005, 11:56 AM the body itself is in good condition, and i think its mostely the clear coat thats peeling and flaking. is there anyway to fix that without getting the whole car repainted? An auto-parts place (Pep boys??) may sell spray cans of clear-coat. Just buff the area with some fine (600 grit) sandpaper on a sanding block, (not held in your hand) then spray the area lightly with even strokes of the clear coat. It will look a bit patchy, but better than it is now. jakekk05 11-02-2005, 06:31 PM http://www.paintforcars.com/ They have cheap paint its around $35 a gal of enamel. I sprayed my buddys truck with it and it turned out fine. If your not looking to do it your self then MACCO!!!!!!!!!!!! DalyCity64 11-15-2005, 11:51 PM I've hear the 35 a gallon stuff is really bad. If it's only a $250 car and you just don't want it peeling, paint it with a brush. Do something funny with it. If you want to do it right, you'll end up spending more than the car is worth in tools alone. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
