Were the Diablo VTTT and SVTT intercooled?NewyorkKopter 10-16-2005, 10:59 AM Hey, were the VTTT, SVTT intercooled? bkvj 11-18-2005, 06:35 PM if they had turbo's, it would be obvious if they done it, so i think so. a turbo doesnt produce that much without the intercooler, as it sucks much less air in. NewyorkKopter 01-25-2006, 05:12 PM o, what exactly do you mean the turbos suck in less air without an intercooler? doesn't an intercooler just replace the warmer air inside the pipes exiting the compressor section of the turbo with cooler outside air?? It doesn't replace it...it cools the air that travels through it. NewyorkKopter 02-12-2006, 10:33 AM yea like the outside air hits the fins inside the intercooler and carries the warm air out, right? Isn't that why cars like the Porsche 962 had the intercoolers placed behind the radiators because an intercooler just needs moving air to work, not necesssary cold air, but a radiator does need cold air, correct? rusty west 12-18-2006, 09:29 PM yea like the outside air hits the fins inside the intercooler and carries the warm air out, right? The VTTT was not intercooled. I have the Yellow VTTT which was #6 of the 8 built. I am not familiar with the induction system in the SVTT but there is not a lot of room for intercoolers in the rear of the Diablo. As for some of the other comments regarding the effectiveness of intercoolers - they cool the charge produced by the turbo chargers allowing a higher volume of air to enter the induction system (thus more Oxygen molecules). Boyles Law states that when a gas is compressed it absorbs heat (get hotter, therefore it expands) the intercoolers remove some of the heat from the compressed gas allowing it to contract. NewyorkKopter 01-10-2007, 03:27 PM ohh thank you. Heyyy, nice car got any pics? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
