Nice. :) Snoopy 05-21-2002, 12:55 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller Is that Lion's back? Sure is! I'm glad I took the time to go up. It's one of the more memorable places that I've taken the Xterra. MOAB Rocks! Schludwiller 05-21-2002, 01:24 PM Yeah, I've got a whole shopping bag full of photos from Moab. Someday I'll work through them all and scan the good ones. Great memories though. rrdstarr 05-21-2002, 02:08 PM Maob, is definitely one of the places I am going next year, job or no job! It was fun just driving White Rim for the view! But now I want to try something much more challenging at Moab! coolerman 07-18-2002, 08:41 AM Awesome pics of Lions Back on your site! So do you have the auto or manual trans? If Auto, did you have to brake hard? I was wondering about how the ABS worked on the steep section coming down? Any spinning going up? Did you have to get a little momentum going up or just crawl? That hill has always scared the sh*t out of me! I saw the blazer video where they went off the side (they lived) and decided I wanted to do that hill :D I don't read the boards much but your pics are the first ones I've every seen of an X or Fronteir going up that hill! Schludwiller 07-20-2002, 12:47 AM I believe Nissan's turn off the ABS under 7-10 mph. OffroadX 07-20-2002, 09:40 PM From your owners manual ;) "The anti-lock brake system does not operate at speeds below 3 to 6 MPH (5 to 10 km/h). (The speeds vary according to road conditions.)" I was braking the entire way down. This "hill" is very steep in sections. Slick Rock is some amazing stuff. It seems to work like that sticky flypaper but for tires - tons of traction. My tires chirped a bit while going up the very steep bottom part but other than that I was good to go. I think XOC was the first "official" Xterra to climb Lion's Back. I've wanted to try it ever since I saw his photos. Highly recommended. Just steer straight! Xtoolbox 08-01-2002, 07:01 PM Yup, Moab is the best :) I’ve been up/down Lions at least 3 times in the last 2 years and I recall about a half dozen or so X's + logan's frontier running it at GONE all of them auto's but Snoopy. You don’t need that much momentum going up and can safely stop at a couple of spots. Descending is a bit more interesting, with a auto you kind of control slide more on the bottom section ;) BTW for those interested some of us will be visiting Moab on the "B" side after GOX3, this large fin is close to town and can be done in <15minutes if there is no waiting after you pay the man his $5. UTJMAC 08-04-2002, 10:51 AM Is lions back open after GOX? I'd make the out of the way trip just to run that. John Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
