2000 Cherokee Sportcrys36 10-13-2005, 09:41 AM My Cherokee that was laid up in the driveway for 4 months now it won't start. It ran well getting into there. It has a factory alarm and I'm wondering if it has a fuel or ignition cut-off-.Can't find the owners manual. Also heard that the fuel pumps go on these things like beer at Octoberfest. Is ther a particular rundown of check I could/should do before i ship it off to my mechanic.Heard the fuel pumps go for 500-600$. Have an account at a Jeep Dealer where I can get anything I want for 20% off plus no tax thanks to my brothers buissness. Any and all help would be apprciated even if ya wanna make fun of me. Thanks -- Chris sector95 10-14-2005, 10:27 PM 4 months.... how's the battery? Try removing the cables and, using a small wire brush, clean the terminal areas on the battery and screw-in cable ends. When you turn the ignition key to the run or on postion can you hear the fuel pump run to pressurize the system? What happens when you turn the key to the start position? Try starting your XJ using a jump start.... set it up then let your battery charge for a bit (10-15 minutes or so). The alarm system.... can't help you there.... if you don't know how to deactivate it, it would be a good idea to find out (and see what it disables). Hope this helps.... mike 89ltd 10-15-2005, 11:33 PM need more info on this, did you check for spark? Usually to dissarm the alarm, put the key in the drivers door and lock then unlock with the key. Also you can go to this site and download a factory service manual for the 2000. http://www.lunghd.com/Downloads_and_Links/Downloads.htm vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
