The light started blinking two day ago. I don't feel any changes in shifting, I have noted that it doesn't come on until I have been driving for about 1 1/2 miles. It has about 47,000 miles on it and I wondered if there's some kind of scheduled maintainance Ford might program into the computer?.

The light started blinking two day ago. I don't feel any changes in shifting, I have noted that it doesn't come on until I have been driving for about 1 1/2 miles. It has about 47,000 miles on it and I wondered if there's some kind of scheduled maintainance Ford might program into the computer?.

Many of the trannys in the newer exploders are having problems, usually showing up as shift problems.

So it might be wise to take it in and have the code read to see what problem your transmission is reporting. It may be an early sign of a problem that will get worse if ignored. There are many problems in the trannys that can be repaired with the tranny in the vehicle.

Try removing battery cable...then replace it, allowing computer to
reset......Worked for me.....easy fix to try.

I have an '02 and have the same problem. The code I found says the O.D. solonoid is not working. This is just the latest thing, I have had alot of trouble with this explorer and with only 52000.

Oh, I just had the tranny flushed when this started and it did not help
