Can anyone tell me straight up what ecotec stands for or what it means? Like vtech is the variable valve timing shit or whatever. I was just curious about it.

It's simply the name of the engine.

Yup, it's just what GM named the engine.

Some have a variable valve timing (2.4 SS) some don't(2.2/2.0SC)
