Greetings,

1991 Bonneville 3.8 is stuck in high gear. Goes in reverse, but cannot get it out of high gear unless connector on tranny is disconnected. Mileage is 208,000 and tranny was rebuilt 12,000 miles ago.

What do you mean high gear, how do you know it is stuck in high.

It sounds like the locking torque converter is not un-locking. There are to possible solutions: 1) leave the connector on the front of the tranny unhooked. 2) replace the locking torque converter.

If you mean the tcc stays locked and stalls the car coming to a stop, this may just be the tcc solenoid 175.00 job.
