Have checked everything but the ignition. I'm not sure how to do that and I'm wondering if the ignition switch turns the engine normally why would it affect the spark? I guess I don't have as good of an understanding of the "ignition switch" as I should.

The ignition switch can and does some strange things. Basically. It sends the electrical charges out to several components of your engine. Fuel Pump, CMU, Starter, ect. If your CMU is not recieving the signal from you ignition switch. The motor will just turn without any spark. There by no combustion.
Check to see if your dash board lights come on when you turn the ignition switch to the on position. Also listen if you can hear your fuel pump pumping. If your dash lights don't come on. Then more then likely you have a bad Ignition Switch. If you don't hear your fuel pump pumping, Then check to ensure you have fuel pressure at the check valve. Should be around 62 PSI.
