Is 80,000 miles on a '98 323i good?

I'm looking for a used BMW 323, 325 or 328 convertible. I don't want to pay more than about $12,000 and the earlier models (around 1998, 99) all have pretty high mileage. (80,000 and up.) I know BMW's are great cars. I had mine for 15 years until last week when it died. But if I get one with 80,000 miles on it how much life will it have left? (I couldn't tell how many miles mine had because the speedometer was broken).

Thanks,
Gail

That mileage is about average for those years, I wouldn't worry about it. E36's are known to hit at least 150-200k and higher, if well maintained and cared for. Mine is a '92 with 143k right now.
