E36 convertible rollover deployedh3nry.huang 10-08-2005, 07:06 AM Hello, My rollover bars have unexpectedly deployed and i was wondering if anyone knew how to reset them. I've heard that there's a special tool in thetool box that doe steh trick but i'm not sure which one it is or how it's done. I also heard the instructions are listed in the owner's manual but i didn't get one with my car when i purched it. Any help is appriciated! Thanks. BAVARIANM 10-13-2005, 02:12 PM In the toolkit, there should be a long, flat bar with a pin on the end. That bar is inserted behind each rollover bar to release the lock. Difficult if you've never done it. h3nry.huang 10-14-2005, 07:15 AM thanks for your help. it turns out i didn't have the tool in my toolkit.... not sure why. I called BMW and they wanted about $60 for the tool and required 2 weeks for the special order! I couldn't wait that long so someone sent me the instructions and I ended up using a metal ruler. Worked great and I saved $60 bucks. So if you happen to ever lose your tool, give a metal ruler a try! haha. And turns out the plastic window also was not damaged. There were a few large bumps left by the rollbar plastic covers but they disappeared after a couple days. Thanks for your help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
