I have a 2005 4wd crew cab . it has 3000 miles on it.
After having my oil change for the first time from my local mechanic,he noticed that the oil pan gasket was wet and possibly leaking.
Having known this, I went to the dealer an explained the problem.
He could not find any leaking but was very concerned.
He put dye in oil and had me return after 75 miles...
No leaks but another tec suggested going longer about 300 to 500 more miles and then checking it with a black light.
Since then I have driven only 150 more miles checking all oil levels daily.
Every thing is full but the power steering is on the low side.
My mechanic still says it's the silicon oil pan gasket.
What do you think or has anyone experience this kind of problem.
I have only driven 3000 miles since buying my Tacoma in June.

Here is a link on the use of dye to check for oil leaks.

Based on the article the dye should be mixed with some oil prior to pouring it in the engine. The claim is it may get trapped in the oil filter and take a long time to work. If florescent dye was added it should be checked with ultraviolet (UV) light.

Have you checked the area where you park the truck for oil spots? Did you check the dipstick to see if the truck was full prior to the oil change?
If there is no evidence of a leak at the present time I would keep checking and not worry unless it shows up again.
